Body weight loss is a major concern for many of us. It is very important to follow a tailored approach in the weight loss process, to minimize negative impacts on overall health. Weight loss should always be consistent and part of a healthy regimen. A few simple tips which can assist to achieve holistic and healthy living are listed below:
1. Lemon Water:
Lemon water is a naturally detoxifying ingredient. Drinking a glass of warm water with lemon juice helps in boosting the digestive system and helps in reducing Aama (toxin) in the body. Lemon has purifying properties that along with warm water enhances the metabolism and helps break fat easily. It also gives a fresh start to the day which make you feel light and energized.
2. Exercise:
Ayurvedic practitioners, one needs to do from 45 to 60 minutes of daily exercise or yoga activity that increases metabolic activity in the body. A healthy eating habits along with exercise or yoga is more beneficial not only for the body, but also for the mind and soul.
3. Meditation:
Meditation is effective in reducing stress and instilling discipline in one’s routine, which is imperative in achieving sustainable weight loss. Moreover, individuals who are prone to emotional eating will find mental benefit through meditation and yoga, as this will provide them with a more useful outlet in seeking relief. Hence, it is very important to do at least 20-20 minutes of light yoga, meditation, and relaxation exercises.
4. Eating Regularly:
Regular eating of healthy and seasonal food is very important to lose weight. It is good to have three meals a day. One should have a balanced, mid-sized lunch around noon with lots of vegetables, grains and meat. A very light early dinner comprising of soups and salads are best for the digestion process as the digestion is low at night. If you feel like having snacks, it is best to eat fruits or dry fruits, and minimize your intake of fried chips, chocolate and cakes. It is also effective to follow Ritucharya Regimen (Daily Routine)
5.Take walk after meal:
Meals generally tend to make us lethargic or sleepy, but for a healthy weight loss it is important to take short walks after each meal in order to fasten the process of digestion.
6. Eat Kapha pacifying diet:
Excess of kapha dosha is involved in making us lethargic, overweight and slows down metabolism to a great extent. It also causes water retention, which can lead to further issues. Eating a kapha inclusive diet helps to clear out many toxins from the body and boosts metabolism. Make sure to choose foods that are freshly prepared and seasonally appropriate, and avoid processed, cold or stale foods.
