Is Acupuncture painful?
Due to misconception that acupuncture is painful, some people don’t want to try acupuncture. The treatment isn’t meant to be painful; you will experience some sensations during your treatment.
Most people being treated with Acupuncture do not feel pain but they do feel the sensation of chi (energy). This sensation is described as heavy, throbbing, or jumping, all of which are positive responses. This can vary due to your level of pain tolerance and overall sensitivity. Sometimes your first acupuncture treatment can be more painful than the follow up acupuncture treatment. This could be because certain energy points on your body are being activated for the first time. Your symptoms may worsen slightly before they get better.
